Akira (ア キ ラ) is a Japanese post-apocalyptic cyber-pank SF anime from 1988. The film was made by cult manga with a series of comics of the same name, and was directed by the cartoon creator Katsuhiro Otomo. The film itself got a cult status, and it is one of the most deserving ones for the popularization of anime in the west.
