After the success of the first public model drawing class dedicated to Egon Schiele, we continue with this program in 2018. For the second edition we stay within expressionism and in collaboration with Goethe Institute in Belgrade, Academy of Fine Arts and Academy of Applied Arts we dedicate the next class to Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, the illustrious German expressionist and the founder of the artistic collective Die Brucke (The Bridge).
Kirchner studied architecture and together with his colleagues Heckel and Rottluff he founded the group in Dresden aiming to surpass the boundaries of academic painting. While sharing the same stutio, the three artists developed similar painting styles based on the Van Gogh color scheme and Gaugen’s fauvism. The expressive canvases enchant with their vivid colors and sharp edges, especially on the urban landscapes from Berlin, where the group was active until they fell apart.
Besides painting, Kirchner was also dealing with drawing, graphics, wood engraving (which was at the time forgotten technique), as well as with sculpture.
Alongside the landscapes, Kirchner’s topics include nude paintings and portrays. His favorite model was Doris Grosse, whose series of nude paintings he created while staying at the lake Moricburg. On the public model drawing class the role of Doris Grosse will be given to Maja Atanasijević Zipa Yoma, whereas the class will be lead by the professors from the Academy.
The class will be held on the February 14th from 10-16h in the Big Gallery of KC Grad. It will be divided into two time slots: from 10-13h and from 13-16h. The participants can apply via e mail mail@gradbeograd.eu and pick their time slot. Participation cost is 200 rsd.
Pop up exhibition will take place on the same day at 19h and it will present the results of the class to the audience.
The movie screening of the documentary about Kirchner will take place at 20h.
The entrance to the movie screening is free of charge.
