The Quartet Mascara originated from friendship and love of music. Their first concert held on a maiden evening in a one-bedroom apartment as a surprise band. Previously, the apartment was supposed to be hidden … The girl to whom the evening was dedicated today is the mother of two children, the guys played the striptease at the end of the concert … And there was a quartet who decided in new, original arrangements to play music that they like it. The music that Vojko, Timi and Mitja give their guitars to the soft ground, and the singer Polona’s incredible passion and strength.

Quartet name does not apply to a cosmetic product; namely mascara is the Spanish word for the mask. For the mask that, on the one hand, it hides, while on the other hand it allows our true nature to emerge in the first plan, which gives us great power. “The emotion is stronger than the story,” says Polona. Mitja adds: “There is too much rath in communication between people today. We are interested in what is behind – in the background. ”

And so – Quartet Mascara.

The Quartet Mascara Repertoire is a mix of music, perched between the Iberian Peninsula and South America, among which is the ocean of emotions. It is not a pure blend, but a real bastard between old Spanish music, Portuguese fado, and South American milongi.

But you will agree to seek purity in any honest artistic expression – pure nonsense. As they say, in their music, we hear “those who escaped calling the salon parquet and protecting their hearts in the face of glittering clichés.” Their music is full and immediate in the lust of the captured Montevideo, Buenos Aires and Lisbon …. between brothels and milonge …. the joy and sadness of merchants, sailors and African immigrants.
