Polyglot Club Serbia, Embassy of Argentina in Serbia and APES Association have the pleasure to invite you to our next co-hosted event: Polyglot Club MATEADA ARGENTINA.

Beautiful, defiant and intense, Argentina seduces with its streetside tango, wafting grills, fútbol (soccer), gaucho culture and the mighty Andes. It’s one formidable cocktail of wanderlust.

Polyglot Club Serbia teamed up with Embassy of Argentina in Serbia and APES Association to help you meet Argentinian community in Belgrade, learn more and talk about Argentinian language, history, festivals, cuisine, sports, traditions, arts, music, dances, cinema, theater, literature, family, holidays…

From mighty Iguazú Falls in the subtropical north to the thunderous, crackling advance of the Glaciar Perito Moreno in the south, Argentina is home to a vast natural wonderland. Diversity is a big part of it. The country that boasts the Andes’ highest snowbound peaks is also home to rich wetlands, rust-hued desert, deep-blue lakes, lichen-clad Valdivian forests and Patagonia’s arid steppes.

Tango is possibly Argentina’s greatest contribution to the outside world. The steamy dance has been described as ‘making love in the vertical position.’ And what about fútbol (soccer)? Argentines are passionately devoted to this sport and, if you’re a fan, chanting and stomping alongside other stadium fanatics should definitely be in your plans. Add a distinctive Argentine take on literature, cinema, music and arts, and you have a rich, edgy culture – part Latin American and part European – that you can’t help but fall in love with. Hopefully you can learn a thing or two more about Argentina by joining us on Wednesday.

As in our regular weekly meetings, you will also be able to practice different languages with our fellow polyglots from Argentina, and from all over the world, to make new friends and have great fun. Our coordinators will welcome you and introduce you to nice people in a very friendly and fun atmosphere.
———————————————

Come to join us for our regular gathering of locals, expats and travelers, all coming for the same reason, to practice languages in a fun and friendly environment with native speakers or people with the same language interests. We bring together people of all ages and backgrounds. The atmosphere is very relaxed and open to learning. We welcome everyone who’s polite, friendly and open-minded.

After you arrive, first of all, check in. We will ask you for your native language and languages you are interested in. After that we will show you to the table of your desired language or form a new one, if that table hasn’t been set yet. Please tell us about all the languages you’re interested in, especially the rare ones. We can’t promise you to find a match every time, but we are always happy, when we manage to set a table for a not that popular and mainstream language.

On every table there will be a sign, which will represent the language that will be used at that particular table. The only rule is to use that language to communicate at that table. You decide everything else. You can bring your notes or textbook and study hard, you can play a board game or you can just chat with others. Or if you are a total beginner, you can just listen to the conversation and try to understand it. It’s always up to the people at the table.

You can sit at any table you want, you can stay there as long as you want. You can switch to another table anytime you want and you can try as many tables as you want. You can come with a friend, but don’t be shy to come alone. Most of us did, so we were in your shoes. We will help you break the ice in a matter of minutes. You can come to the meeting anytime, but since it’s a public event and there is no registration in advance required, we never know how many people will show up and we can’t guarantee you a free seat if you come too late.

If this will be your first meeting, try as many tables and languages as you can, to get the spirit. If you’ll become a regular member, in a long run, expect to be asked to be the native speaker at the table from time to time, who helps the others in case they don’t know how to say correctly, what they want to say. It’s very interesting and beneficial for learners to just listen to the native speaker‘s constructions of sentences, accent and vocabulary. And everyone here does his or her part. That’s what language exchange is all about.

To appreciate the business which is offering us the space to organize our events, we ask you to have a drink or two at least, so they will be willing to host us again.

Entrance is free. You are paying for the drinks at the regular prices of Elektropionir/Sprat/Zaokret Bar.

Don’t be shy and like our Facebook page and Group to get tips and tricks about how to master your language skills or subscribe to be notified about all our events.
