About us
Belgrade Summer Festival – BELEF is an international art festival, featuring specific programmes in the fields of music, theatre, dance and visual arts. Founded in 1991, this festival holds the position of a cultural event of special importance for the City of Belgrade. The main programme orientation of BELEF is problematization of the relationship between local and global, traditional and contemporary artistic expression, aiming towards modern aesthetics and interactive form. The concept of BELEF does not give predominance neither to ‘urban elitism’ nor to ‘traditional populism’, but rather it offers a specific festive encounter of Serbian cultural scene with the world. So far the exclusive and premiere offer of programmes by Serbian and foreign artists has included: Choir Glinka from Sankt Petersburg, Eric Burdon, Laurie Anderson, Roxy Music, Nikita Mikhalkov, Dušan Makavejev, Egon Savin, Kokan Mladenović, Nikita Milivojević, Matthew Barney, Bill Viola, Blek le Rat, Mark Jenkins, to name a few, raising the bar very high for future editions of the Festival.

It is difficult to say what season is the most beautiful. However, only summer season is marked by BELEF. Always smiling, playful and at your disposal.
