Circobalcan
Contemporary Circus Festival in the Circus Tent
20-28.09.2019
Port of Belgrade
This year’s seventh edition of the festival is a synergy of Circobalkana, Bitef Festival, French Institute and one of the currently most innovative French circus troupes “Un Loup pour l’homme” and their project “Ride & Camp”. With the desire to deepen the collaboration and exchange of artistic practices of the local, regional and European contemporary circus scene, the concept of this year’s festival focuses on the diversity of creative processes in accordance with the artistic culture and environment in which circus performances are created. Thus, the selection of works of art shows the current diversity of circus thinking by artists from the region, as well as the wider European circus scene, which is reflected in engagement, experiment, political, but also in relation to the audience.
During the nine days of the program in a designed temporary art space in downtown Belgrade and the setting up of a circus tent, the festival will feature seven performances, three master classes for professional development, a presentation of a joint residency program for young artists from the region and France, concerts, performances and roundtables. It will be an inherent experiment by the artist and the art circus community!
