On December 4th, at 8 pm and 10 pm on the stage of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet, the State Ice Ballет from St. Petersburg comes again, this time with the performance of the play “The Nutcracker” by Peter I. Tchaikovsky. It is a ballet spectacle of ice that the State Ballet from St. Petersburg is producing on almost all world ballet and opera stages.

Last year, the State Ballet of Ice was performing the famous ballet masterpiece “Swan Lake” and aroused great interest among the Macedonian audience. Because of that, instead of the planned two performances at the MOB, four were held, which were rewarded with loud applause and cheers.

The state ice ballet from St. Petersburg was founded in 1967 by the outstanding choreographer Konstantin Boyarski and is a successful continuation of the traditional Russian school for classical ballet. Boyarski was a former soloist of the world famous ballet “Mariinsky” and a school friend of the famous Rudolf Nureyev. He played with Mikhail Barishnikov and Natalia Makarova. Music director and co-founder of this ballet house is Leo Korkin, a famous Russian conductor.

There are more than twenty dancers in the ballet company that have skating titles. Since 1995, the Petersburg ballet has been playing on the scenes of the world opera and ballet houses. On their repertoire are the famous ballets of Peter I. Tchaikovsky – “Sleeping Beauty”, “Swan Lake” and “Nutcracker”, as well as ballets “Romeo and Juliet” and “Cinderella” by Sergei Prokofiev.

All performances are made by the choreographer Konstantin Rasadin. This ballet company first set the classical ballets in classical costumes and the stage design of ice installed on the stage of the theater. In recent years, these productions have been successfully presented on the scenes of the United States, Canada, Europe, China …
