The first sentence of her biography reads: “Jelena Jankovic is an art photographer, specializing in dance and theater photography …”!?! 🙂 How is it, she is, the theater photographer, made one of the best series of street photographs in recent years? How to do it, with twenty exposures of her little son, within seven days, to capture the atmosphere of the “world capital city” and make the viewer feel like another stranger on that big scene. Well … before Jelena was just the biggest scene in the world, the most interesting improvisation theater: New York City. Now she was moving along the scene, invisible to New Yorkers, drawing the boundaries between light and dark, searching for diagonals and parallels of the shadow of the city, documenting countless stories of eternal, secondary characters … Jelena takes you literally to New York, not as a tourist … but as a real citizen of his … invisible.
