Gypsy Philharmonic Orchestra gathers the best Roma musicians of Hungarian origin from various parts of Europe. The musical program includes a combination of traditional melodies of Roma violins, greats such as Grigoras Dinicu, Ferenc Erkela or Vittorio Monti and at the same time the greatest holiday classics such as Johannes Brahms, Pablo De Sarasota, Johann Strauss and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky as well as surprises like a beautiful version of the film Slow Schindler’s List, John William. Virtuous musicians, more than 60 musicians on the stage, are also special because they play exclusively without the score and represent the rich musical culture of Budapest. Violins, contrabasses, clarinets and cymbals will produce an incredible experience of this advent at the Concert Hall of Vatroslav Lisinski.
Through generations of Romani musicians, they celebrate the tradition of celebration with music and music, famous for their incredible virtuosity, and although we can not define a Roma musical expression, it has a clear identity that is very similar to blues music coming from America.
